Discover Euromere's Resimer® EPS: The Ideal Polyester Resin for Polystyrene

Résine Resimer® EPS d'Euromere

Our accelerated and thixotropic unsaturated polyester resin, Resimer® EPS, is specially designed for coating expanded and extruded polystyrene foams. Used in lamination with fiberglass, this resin creates an effective barrier between the polystyrene foam and a polyester milling paste such as EVOPASTE SP-3000 or XT-4000.

Technical Specifications

  • Static Viscosity (P): 27 – 33
  • Gel Time (min): 15 – 25 (200g with 1% MEKP at 20°C)
  • Peak Time (min): 25 – 35
  • Peak Temperature (°C): 110 – 160
  • Solid Content (%): 53 – 58

Advantages of Resimer® EPS

  • High Compatibility with Polystyrene: Thanks to its low styrene content, Resimer® EPS is perfectly suited for polystyrene foams.
  • Good Mechanical Properties: With a tensile strength of 60 – 70 MPa and flexural strength of 100 – 110 MPa, this resin ensures reliable mechanical performance.
  • Excellent Glass Fiber Wettability: Facilitates application and enhances the adhesion of fiberglass.

For optimal results, Resimer® EPS should be used at a temperature between 15°C and 25°C, with humidity levels below 80%. It is essential to mix the resin thoroughly before use, using a mixer suitable for the packaging size and at moderate speed. No dilution is required—simply catalyze the product with 1% to 3% MEKP50.

Store the product in its original sealed packaging, away from sunlight, at a temperature below 20°C and preferably in a ventilated area. Under these conditions, the product retains its properties for 3 months from the production date.

Euromere’s Resimer® EPS is an ideal solution for coating polystyrene foams, offering significant benefits in terms of compatibility, mechanical performance, and fiberglass wettability.
